Instructions for Before Undergoing Anesthesia
Before undergoing anesthesia at our dental clinic, there are important instructions to follow. These guidelines are designed to ensure your safety and the success of your procedure. By adhering to these instructions, you can help minimize any potential risks and maximize the effectiveness of the anesthesia. Your comfort and well-being are our top priorities, and we appreciate your cooperation in following these pre-anesthesia instructions. Please follow these instructions before you undergo anesthesia at Bluebonnet Oral Surgery and Implants.
Detailed Pre-Anesthesia Instructions
Refrain from consuming any food, beverages, or water for a period of six hours leading up to your scheduled appointment.
Opt for loose and comfortable clothing, preferably with short or easily roll-up-able sleeves, and wear low-heeled shoes to ensure comfort during the procedure.
If the patient is a minor, the presence of a parent or guardian is required throughout the appointment.
Patients undergoing I.V. sedation must be accompanied by a responsible adult. This individual is expected to stay during the surgical procedure, drive the patient home, and provide company for the rest of the day.
Following I.V. sedation, patients are advised not to drive or operate any machinery for a duration of 24 hours.
Daily wear contact lenses should be removed before the surgery begins.
Refrain from applying lipstick, excessive makeup, or nail polish on the day of the surgery.
No smoking is permitted at least 12 hours prior to the scheduled surgery. Ideally, patients should consider reducing or discontinuing smoking leading up to the surgery day.
